Considering Transitioning from Bioidenticals to Amata Life?
This is a question we hear over and over again. Many, many women are on bioidentical hormones—meaning various combinations of estrogen, progesterone, and/or testosterone. Some have done well with this for many years. As a matter of fact, Dr. Northrup was a pioneer in bringing the benefits of bioidentical hormones to the attention of women world wide way back in the 1990’s.
In general, our approach at Amata Life is: “ If it isn’t broken….don’t fix it.” And the same goes for your hormone regimen. If what you are doing is working well for you, stick with it.
But many women would prefer to get off their prescription hormones and switch to Pueraria Mirifica instead. That is a reasonable choice. It is easy to do.
First….we need to get 2 things out of the way. 1) We can’t provide medical advice, and 2) We can’t comment on individual circumstances.
What we can do is share what has worked for thousands of women! You can then decide what is best for you by trusting your inner wisdom
Some Background on Pueraria Mirifica
The main thing to be aware of is that bioidentical mammalian hormones work very differently from the phytoestrogens in Pueraria Mirifica. Mammalian hormones (from prescription bioidenticals) land on the alpha receptor and can act as growth promoters in estrogen sensitive cells.
Plant hormones, on the other hand, (like Pueraria Mirifica), land on the Beta receptor and function as what are known as adaptogens. If your hormone levels are too high, the plant hormones protect the cells from over stimulation. If they are too low, they promote what is called tonifying and nourishing so that the body acts like it has more hormones.
Plant hormones, which have been used for centuries, act more like SERMS (selective estrogen receptor modulators).
How to Transition from Bioidenticals to Pueraria Mirifica
The transition time should take about a month to make sure your body gets used to the transition from one type of hormone support to the other.
Begin by taking Pueraria Mirifica daily—either in liquid or capsule form. Do this at the same time as you take your bioidenticals. After 3 days or so, begin tapering off your bioidenticals. So—for instance—if you are taking a daily pill or capsule of your bioidenticals, drop two doses the first week. That means—the first week – skip two doses of your bioidenticals while staying on the Amata Life.
The second week drop three days worth of doses. The third week, skip four doses. The fourth week, 5 doses, etc. Go slowly. If you are on a patch, leave it on for a couple days longer than you normally would—and so on.
There is no standard way to do this. The main thing is to make sure that your body is replenished with the Pueraria Mirifica before tapering your bioidenticals. This takes about a week. Sometimes it can be less.
Thousands of women have successfully transitioned from their bioidenticals to Amata Life. And they are very happy with how they are doing. So give it a try. Watch this short video, and please share with a friend.
