Care For Your Heart

Did you know that the heart is the body’s most active organ?

As you approach and move beyond menopause, you can support this essential organ in two important ways:

  • First - ensure that the heart has enough energy to perform its essential functions;
  • Second - support the health and structure of the arteries, blood vessels, and muscles essential to cardiovascular function.

When it comes to protecting the heart, estrogen plays a big role. Estrogen modulates vascular function, inflammatory response, metabolism, insulin sensitivity, cardiac muscle cells and stem cell survival, and development of an enlarged heart.

It does this by activating the selective receptor modulators (SERMs), which have protective and beneficial results.

SERMs are needed to help generate energy in the form of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) in the mitochondria in the cells. This energy supports the cells in the heart muscles, encouraging their ability to pump blood and, therefore, to deliver needed oxygen and other nutrients to the heart (and cells throughout your body).

SERMs also play an important role in keeping the structure of the arteries intact, clear of plaque, smooth, and flexible. According to research, SERMs modulate the estrogen receptors in the arteries and stimulates mitochondria in the lining of the arteries and in most cells. This helps protect against atherosclerosis (blocked, brittle arteries) and fatty deposits from cholesterol and other fatty substances.

Stiff arteries or those blocked by fat or plaque affect the heart’s ability to function optimally—while concurrently increasing the heart’s demand for energy.

Studies show that estrogen protects a woman’s heart and that if estrogen levels drop, as they often do post-menopause, heart health can be supported by phytoestrogens such as Pueraria mirifica.

Better than traditional hormone replacement, which can come with side effects, Pueraria mirifica may play a role in conferring protection to the entire cardiovascular system.

Pueraria mirifica also provides antioxidant protection, which keeps the heart muscles, arteries, and cells from being damaged by free radicals. This promotes lifelong health of your heart and your entire body, thus supporting this wonder herb’s ability to rejuvenate the body. Keep your heart muscles, arteries, and cells healthy so they can perform optimally throughout your life by supplementing with Pueraria mirifica. Your body—especially your heart—will thank you!

What have you done to care for your heart?

I am on bio-identical hormones prescribed by an MD gynecologist who has retired from his practice and is now solely working on bio-identical hormones. He has us do bloodwork and then a pharmacy compounds the hormones based on blood levels. Can I still take this puerifica? and will the estrogen make my breast hurt? thank you

I’ve taken the pueraria mirifica for several years now, and am very happy. I so miss the liquid form though. It works very well for me. I have just started taking the capsule form. It works, but doesn’t seem to have the power of the liquid. I loved it. Tasted ok, and took a sip of water after I took it. Wish I had a choice of it or the capsule. It has made me younger looking also.. I will turn 75 in a few days, and I still have a wonderful sex life, I love it .Keeps me in shape..lol
