FAQ

FAQ - Introduction

Is Pueraria Mirifica Plus safe to take if (fill in your personal health concern here)?

Everyday we receive many questions about whether or not our product is appropriate in individual cases. And nothing would delight me more than to be able to answer these questions right here on this page.

But here’s the rub: If you are asking about a disease or condition that afflicts you, I can’t. Even when I have the right data and the science to back up my answer.

Why? Because Pueraria Mirifica Plus is a dietary supplement and this product is not intended for the cure, mitigation, or treatment of any disease. The only thing I can legally address here are the claims on our labels.

And that is why, when you ask about a specific health concern, I have to advise you to “Please check with your doctor before starting this supplement if you have any health concerns.” Not the answer you were looking for, I know. But there you have it.

In Great Health!

Dr. Christiane Northrup

Do you ship to Canada, Europe, and Other International Destinations?

Amata by Dr. Christiane Northrup ships packages to customers located in some European countries, Central & South America, Europe, the Middle East, the Far East, and Australia & New Zealand, for their personal use.  Unfortunately, Canada and Germany no longer allows the importation of supplements containing Pueraria Mirifica.

Most countries will allow the import of supplements for personal use, and some countries limit such imports to a 90 day supply. We strictly follow all regulations regarding the shipment of products intended for personal use to countries outside the U.S.

We recommend that you contact your customs office to inquire about customs duty, import regulations, and any limits of quantities.

What are my choices in shipping to International Destinations?

2 shipping methods are offered:

a) United States Postal Service Priority Mail International

b) UPS Worldwide International Expedited.

The cost of shipping is calculated based on the weight and destination of the package, and will display before you enter your credit card information. All orders must have a physical address and a local phone number.

Will there be additional customs and brokerage fees?

Customers are responsible for standard brokerage and customs fees, where applicable, which will vary, and which must be paid by you, and may be due prior to delivery. All packages will have a commercial invoice attached, including a detailed description of its contents. Local customs authorities will utilize this invoice to determine what duties and fees will be due from you.

If shipping via UPS, you will be notified by UPS of these fees once your shipment clears customs. UPS will not release your shipment until these fees are paid in full by you. UPS provides local tracking information to its final destination.

If shipping via USPS, local customs authorities will determine the amount of fees and duty that may be owed by you. USPS may not provide local tracking information to its final destination.

Please note that refunds will not be issued for any order that:

  • Is refused, or abandoned by the recipient due to nonpayment of duty or brokerage fees
  • Cannot be delivered due to an address error
  • Is not delivered due to an error by the local postal service
  • Is refused importation to a specific country.

Is there a way to minimize international shipping costs?

International shipping is, due to distance, more costly. We have negotiated favorable rates, and pass along those costs to our customers. One method to reduce the cost per item is to order several months supply in one order. Each incremental item within the order costs only marginally more, and the result is that each item costs less on a per item basis.

At checkout, my country is not shown in the choices.

There are a few countries where we do not ship, and if your country is not shown, then we do not ship there at this time.

Is Auto Ship available internationally?

Auto Ship is available for shipments to the above countries, but unfortunately due to higher international shipping costs, the free shipping option is not available. Auto Ship shipments to international destinations will incur normal shipping charges.

When Can I Expect Delivery?

We ship orders within 1 business day from order placement. Delivery times can vary greatly depending upon the shipment method chosen and the destination country. As an example USPS orders, are dependent upon a variety of factors, including your local postal delivery service, local customs, and may take several weeks.

If you require a specific timetable for delivery of your order, we recommend UPS Expedited Service, which will provide tracking to your destination and also arrange for customs clearance.

Can I purchase Amata products in retail stores?

Amata products are available exclusively and only through our website.

Where are your products made?

All of our products are manufactured in the U.S.

What is, and how does Auto Ship work?

When you select Auto Ship for our capsules or liquid Pueraria Mirifica Plus products, we willautomatically send a fresh supply (either every 30 or 60 days, depending upon the product ordered) to you. You will save because shipping is free with Auto Ship, and you will have the convenience of having product delivered to your door when you need it. Auto Ship can be cancelled at any time by simply contacting customer service.

Do you charge sales tax?

By law we are required to collect sales tax for shipments to Maine & South Dakota.

What if I receive an error message indicating that my billing address is incorrect?

Try re-entering your billing address information, and note that even a small error will cause the order to be rejected. To insure order security and avoid fraud, Amata requires that all billing addresses precisely match your bank or credit card issuer’s records through a system commonly known as address verification. Some banks outside of the U.S. do not subscribe to the address verification system, and therefore orders cannot be processed. If you receive such a message, we encourage you to utilize another credit card in the hopes that it will subscribe to the address verification system.

Where are your supplements manufactured?

Our supplements are made to our specifications here in the U.S. in a facility which is FDA registered, produces Pharmaceutical Quality supplements — the same standards used for pharmaceuticals, and complies with cPMG (Good Current Manufacturing Processes) standards.

Our product is labeled: “For Relief of Menopausal Symptoms.” If you are still experiencing symptoms, then the answer is “yes.”

I’m currently taking bioidentical hormones. Can I add Pueraria Mirifica Plus?

In Dr. Northrup's book, The Wisdom of Menopause, there is an entire chapter on herbal approaches to menopause. In addition, there is a section on bioidentical hormones for those who require them. She states in the book that it is not "either / or", and the choice, as always resides with the individual. Pueraria Mirifica has a characteristic as a potent phytoestrogen, which works very well for many women. The choice as to what to do, and what to take, always resides with the individual, her physician, and what feels right to her. We advise you to check with your physician before making any changes in your hormonal regimen.

We advise you to check with your physician before making any changes in your hormonal regimen.

I think my period started up again after being on Pueraria Mirifica Plus. Is this possible?

Until you have gone through a period of one year from the last menstrual period, you are not through with the menopausal transition. And unexpected bleeding - even after months of no bleeding is very common. It often comes out of the blue as hormone levels rise and fall naturally. The herb Pueraria Mirifica is traditionally known to be moistening, revitalizing, and moisturizing to the uterine and vaginal tissue. It is also known as an adaptogen - and as such is moistening and nourishing to the hormonal system-- which can result in a change in menstrual patterns.

Does your product contain nano-particles?

There are no nano-particles in any of our products.

All of the ingredients in PM Plus have enjoyed many years of effective use. It is a nutritional supplement, not a drug.

Q. Why have I experienced a burning sensation after using the Vaginal Moisturizer?

Most women do not experience this, but some have on occasion. For those that have, vaginal dryness and lack of lubrication is often associated with the thinning of the vaginal lining. This is common during perimenopause, after childbirth, and during times of stress. Until the cells of vaginal lining are restored to their resilient state, almost anything that comes in contact with the vaginal lining can feel uncomfortable and may elicit a burning sensation. For this reason, you may wish to start your healing process with a very small amount of our non-warming Amata Life Vaginal moisturizer the first time. Then build up slowly over the next week or two. Because Pueraria mirifica results in rejuvenation of the vaginal lining, you will find that the burning sensation goes away within a week or two of regular use as your vaginal tissue thickens and heals. Once this happens, you may want to begin enjoying our warming version.

How can Pueraria mirifica help men?

The root of the Pueraria mirifica plant has been used for more than 700 years in Southeast Asia by both men and women. The root has long been known for its powers of “rejuvenation” and increased energy. It is well known that both men and women make the same sex hormones in their bodies— but at different levels that affect male and female tissues differently. Just as the potent phytoestrogens in Pueraria mirifica, miroestrol and deoxymiroestrol, can help relieve the many symptoms of menopause in women, those same substances can help protect prostate and over-all sexual health in men.

Does PM Plus for Men contain sildenafil, sulfosildenafil, tadalafil, or any other of the active ingredients commonly found in erectile dysfunction prescription drugs?

Absolutely not! Other firms may contaminate their supplements illegally with these types of drugs, but PM Plus for Men by Amata would never do so. PM Plus for Men is a natural approach to men’s sexual health, and only contains the 4 quality herbal ingredients listed.
